As a result of the settlement between the City of New York and the Attorney General, Elliot Spitzer’s office that decided the fate of the City’s community gardens, roughly 114 Community Gardens were designated as Subject to Development. This means that a significant amount of work will have to be done with and by the gardens in order to ensure the preservation of their gardens.
